Description
Painting from the late 19th century onwards went through many innovations including Cezanne’s
simplifying the picture plane, Impressionism,Pointillism through to the emergence of Cubism,
Fauvism, Surrealism and finally to Abstraction.
Moving away from traditional themes, Abstraction encompasses the act of moving paint upon a surface by dripping, poring, layering, brushing, trowelling or spray painting.
